Enhancements
New Features in Version 1.7
- Index Navigation Links: Navigate index pages more quickly.
Flip from one to five pages at a time in either direction. This makes
moving through the index easier especially for those with hundreds of
individuals under one surname. Also, the word "continued" is now a link
when index entries are continued on the next page.
- Child Links: A child's name can now appear as the link to
that child's family page. See Use
child's name as link to child's family page under Attributes | Links.
- Individual Reference Numbers: Display reference numbers for
individuals. These numbers are generated and assigned by your
genealogy software. See Display reference
numbers for individuals under Features | Surnames & Index.
- Names of Months: Month names can now be converted from the
default GEDCOM format to their full names (e.g., "JAN" becomes
"January"). For international users, the month is also translated to
your language. See Convert GEDCOM
month names under Program |
Dates.
- Family Reference Numbers: Many genealogy programs do not
create family reference numbers consistently when you export a GEDCOM
file. This may interfere with links to your family pages you have on
your other personal web pages. It also affects family-level custom
features like narrative links, imported text and group images.
Now either "User Reference Numbers" or "Record ID Numbers" can be used
to identify families. See Family
Page References under Program |
GEDCOM.
- Options Set Summary: You can now view a summary of all your
GED-GEN option settings. The Options Set Display (OSD)
utility, formerly a separate program, is now incorporated into
GED-GEN. See Summary
on the Files tab.
- Link Destinations: File names within hypertext links can now
be forced to all lower-case characters. This avoids a "Page not found"
error due to different file naming conventions between Windows and UNIX
computer systems. See Use
lower-case destination file names on the Attributes | Links tab.
